Diploma in Funeral Directing leads to IT position
Back in 2005, Eulogica Ltd were proud to announce that David Wright from Sheffield was taking up employment as their Client Support Manager. The Funeral profession was not new to David as he holds the NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing, is a BIFD member and also has over 5 years experience of working as a Funeral Director for his step father's business, Eric Eyre of Sheffield.
David explains, “After finishing my degree in Electronic Engineering I was temporarily working for Eric whilst looking for a job in the electronics field. Eric was unexpectedly taken seriously ill whilst conducting a funeral and was rushed to hospital. I literally had to step into his shoes and finish conducting the funeral.”
David continued working in the business whilst Eric was recovering from his illness. “Although Eric was very poorly, he was allowed home where he gave me great advice and encouragement from his sick bed” recalls David. “I then spent the next 5 years working as a Funeral Director, but still had the urge to follow my initial career path.” After this he worked with software and network infrastructures for a number of years.
It was a chance meeting between David and Eulogica at Headingley Cricket ground where they were attending a Yorkshire Area NAFD dinner. “I was sat next to a couple of Norwegian chaps which I thought very strange for a Yorkshire Area Funeral Directors dinner,” recalls David, “after chatting with them I was immediately struck by not only their enthusiasm for their product, but also by their obvious commitment to their whole concept.” During the dinner Svein and Gary mentioned that they had a vacancy for a Client Support Manager, which David might be interested in. Details were exchanged, interviews attended and almost a year on since first meeting Eulogica Ltd, David now joins the team.
David is 38 years old and married with two children. He officially started work with Eulogica on the 1st November 2005, but he and his wife Ava earlier attended the BIFD conference and exhibition in Ashford Kent, where he helped Svein and Gary on the Eulogica stand demonstrating their concept.
Having spent an intensely busy first 3 weeks in November 2005 with Eulogica, David then had the chance to take a long planned break to the lovely town of Alnwick in Northumberland, where he and Ava celebrated their wedding anniversary.
When not travelling the country, analysing Funeral businesses and configuring Eulogica software according to their needs, he will be mainly based at his home office in Yorkshire. Eulogica already had a strong presence in the London area and with the addition of David in Sheffield, this now strengthened their national coverage.
Eulogica Ltd is based in 5 Regent Street in central London.
